These trips explore some of Goose Arm’s spectacular backcountry. Join us on a 1, 2, 3 or 4 day wilderness tenting ride with stops at Lomond River on the outskirts of Gros Morne National Park, Cloudy Pond, Island Pond or Bear Lake. Camps are set up with wash stand and hot water, a fire pit for evening socializing and tent accommodations. Delicious home cooked meals are served with a flexible menu to meet your requirements. The rides are casual with breaks and leisurely lunches.

Riders meet at Cache Rapids Stable in Reidville where they will be transported by vehicle to the starting point for their ride. One Day Rides depart at 1:00 pm. and return 12 noon the following day. Two, Three And Four Day Rides depart at 9:30 am. and return at 5:00 pm.

Minimum of 2 people and A maximum of 10 people per trip. Advanced reservations required. Discounts available for groups of 4 or more. Rider weight  must not exceed 250 lbs.

1 . Lomond River

Ride to Lomond, Gros Morne National Park. Arrive at our stable in Reidville at 12 noon to prepare for the ride. Ride departs at 1:30 pm. from Wiltondale and returns at 1:00 pm. the following day. 1 day/ 1night. $695 per adult. Children 12 and under $645.

2. Island Pond

Backcountry tenting trip to Island Pond in Goose Arm. Ride departs at 1 pm and returns at 12 noon the following day. 1 day/1 night. $695. per adult. Children 12 and under $645.

3. Lomond River / Tablelands

Ride to Lomond River and the Tablelands. Arrive at our stable in Reidville at 9:30 am. to prepare for the ride. Ride departs at 10:30 pm. from Wiltondale. On day two, we will trailer the horses to Shoal Brook in Gros Morne where you will ride to the Tablelands and return to the stable in Reidville at 5 pm. 2 days/1 night. $795. per adult. Children 12 and under $745.

4. Island Pond via Grindstone

The Island Pond via Grindstone Ride starts from Goose Arm Road, up Snug Harbour Hill and along North Lake Road, past North Lake on to Island Pond. There are plenty of old logging roads in the area to do additional riding in the evening. The return trip is via Grindstone Road, which overlooks Bonne Bay Pond. 2 days/1 night. $795. per adult. Children 12 and under $745.

What to bring – Mother Nature can be unpredictable, so guests need to come prepared for every type of weather. Clothing that is easily layered works best. You can always remove what you don’t need, but you still have it just in case. Also, bring your most comfortable gear -–this is not the time to break-in new boots or a new hat.
Your coats, rain gear, hat and gloves are packed separately from your duffel and are either worn or tied with saddle strings to the back of your saddle. We supply saddlebags. Please fill them only with essential items that you would need during the day, such as lip balm, you camera, sunscreen, etc. Daypacks, backpacks or other bags are not allowed – they are hard on your back and hard on the horse’s back, and do not tie properly to the saddle.

For folks who are looking to take a bit of home into the backcountry, Lomond River Lodge provides all the comforts of home. Like wilderness tenting rides, days are spent on horseback, riding and exploring. Unlike tenting rides, evenings are spent in a cozy lodge. We call that roughing it the civilized way. Your choice of One, Two or Three Day Rides.

7. Lomond River Lodge

Ride to Lomond River, Gros Morne National Park. Deluxe cabin accommodations at Lomond River Lodge. Arrive at our stable in Reidville at 12 noon to prepare for the ride. Ride departs at 1:30 pm from Wiltondale and returns at 1:00 pm the following day. 1 day and 1 night. $745. per adult. Children 12 and under $695.

8. Lomond River Two Day / One Night

Our most popular ride. Ride to Lomond River and the Tablelands Gros Morne National Park. Arrive at our stable in Reidville at 9:30 am. to prepare for the ride. Ride departs at 10:30 am from Wiltondale. On day two, we will trailer the horses to Shoal Brook in Gros Morne where you will ride to the Tablelands and return to the stable by 5 pm . $845 per adult.
